This workbook introduces you to FrameMaker's structured interface and
shows you how to create documents with elements. Learn about elements,
their relationships to each other, and how to manipulate them in the structure
view. You'll create content by inserting elements for text, cross-references,
variables, and other components. By working with the elements in a sample
structured template, you'll see how templates provide you with a structure
for your document and offer time-saving features such as automatic insertion
of elements. Both the downloadable and printed versions of the workbook contain the same step-by-step exercises and include the files you
need to complete the exercises. Both versions also offer access to video clips that show you how to use the FrameMaker interface. Notes:
- You can use this workbook to learn FrameMaker 8. This
workbook does not cover new features in FrameMaker 8, including
DITA support, conditional expressions, Unicode support, and rich media support.
- Downloadable workbooks are not for use in classroom training. Please contact sales@scriptorium.com for licensing information.
Do I really need a FrameMaker reference to complete the exercises? The workbook doesn't contain detailed conceptual explanations. Instead,
we suggest you purchase a reference book to get that detailed information.
We recommend Publishing Fundamentals: FrameMaker
7 (formerly FrameMaker 7: The Complete Reference). For your convenience, the workbook refers you to specific pages
in Publishing Fundamentals. Prerequisites The prerequisites for the FrameMaker materials are the same as those
